Online Voting Assistance throughout the Voting Period

Should you require assistance with online voting during the Voting Period, October 19 at 10 a.m. to October 26, at 8 p.m., please contact the City’s Elections Team at 905.420.4660 ext. 8683 (VOTE), elections@pickering.ca, or visit a Voter Assistance Centre where you can obtain assistance from authorized Election Officials.

Given the availability of online voting throughout the Voting Period, please be aware that Candidates and persons working under the direction of a Candidate cannot assist an Elector with the voting process, including the online voting process.

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 authorizes the Clerk to establish procedures necessary for the conduct of the election. These Procedures govern the conduct of the election, and all Candidates are expected to comply with them.

According to Section 03.08 of the 2026 City of Pickering Municipal Elections Procedures:

“No Certified Candidate or person working for a Certified Candidate shall assist an Elector in the voting process at the Elector's home, at any campaign event, at any campaign office, or at any other location or event during the Voting Period. Candidates shall refer the Elector to the Clerk's Office, a Voter Assistance Centre, or a Voting Location should they require any assistance in the voting process.”

For greater clarity, Candidates and individuals working under the direction of a Candidate must not facilitate, supervise, witness, or otherwise participate in an Elector's completion of the online voting process during the Voting Period, including by providing access to a device for the purpose of casting a vote. Candidates and campaign workers must be mindful of protecting the secrecy and independence of the vote and should not encourage an Elector to access or complete the online voting process in their presence.

Electors who require assistance should attend a Voter Assistance Centre and speak to an authorized Election Official.

What is my School Support?

Property owners in Ontario are required to support a school board, even if they do not have children. Where a residential property is tenanted, the tenants can direct the school support for the property. Your school support designation helps identify which school board you wish to support during school board elections and ensures that school support funding is directed to the appropriate board. By default, school support is directed to the English Public School Board.

Your current designation can be found on your Property Assessment Notice. As a property owner, occupant, or tenant of a property in Ontario, you must support one the of following school boards:

  • English Public
  • English Separate (Catholic)
  • French Public
  • French Separate (Catholic)

June 1, 2026, was the deadline to update your school support designation with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). You can still update your school support designation with the City from September 1, 2026, until Voting Day, October 26, 2026, by submitting the prescribed Application to Amend Voters' List. Please note that changing your school support for the Municipal Election will not affect that change with MPAC. To change your school support for your property, you must make this change directly with MPAC in addition to making the change with the City for the purpose of voting.

To learn more about school support, visit the MPAC website.
